FreightBroker Manager

FirstFleet, Inc is expanding our freight brokerage businessand seeks to hire a Freight Transportation Brokerage Professional with priorexperience managing a freight brokerage operation, securing carriers to add toour base, ability to hire people and manage people due to growth, and toincrease our direct shipper customer base.

Eligible candidates should possess an understanding ofcurrent market conditions, excellent customer service and organizationalskills, strong attention to detail, and a positive and engaging personality.The Freight Transportation Broker should be experienced with usingtransportation management software. (TMW)

The company will not accept candidates that are bound bynon-compete agreements from former employers or agencies. We will offer a competitivebase salary and bonus structure.

Job Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with our sales professionals to develop shipper targets for business growth.
  • Call on existing and prospective new customers via inside phone calls and outside sales visits.
  • Contact target shippers to request shipments and provide rate quotations.
  • Work with multiple customer needs at the same time.
  • Develop knowledge of and monitor news and industry trends
  • Request rate quotes with support from Operations.
  • Monitor partner carriers to insure service for our customers.
  • Support Operations with confirmation and billing instructions.
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and profitability.

Job Requirements:

  •  At least 10 years of operational experience in trucking and freight brokerage. *
  • At least 5 years brokerage management experience *
  • Motivation to self-manage and lead a team to continuously contact customers and carriers to solicit loads and insure service.
  • Knowledge of freight brokerage, transportation modes, competitive rates and service requirements.
  • Ability to negotiate rates, on-board customers and provide service.
  • An understanding of current market conditions and rates.
  • Knowledge of major traffic lanes and competitive carrier rates.
  • Prior experience in using transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize, meet deadlines and excel in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and within team setting.
  • Strong communications skills with a positive and engaging personality.
  • College degree preferred, but not required, especially in Supply Chain Management or Business Management.
