Reports to: Human Resources Manager

This position will provide HR support for our FirstFleet Terminal locations and Corporate office employees. We are looking for a highly motivated, engaged, committed individual that has an interest and background in Human Resources. The Human Resource Generalist will work collaboratively with the HR Team fostering positive associate relations through proactive leadership, communications and employee involvement. This position will support a broad range of human resource activities and is a hands on position that requires interaction and visibility with all levels of the organization.


Primary Responsibilities:

Serves as primary point of contact for employee relations for the Driver and hourly workforce.

Primary resource and advocate for employee questions, concerns, suggestions and needs.

Proactively address potential morale issues, involving the appropriate Managers and driving issues to closure.

Counsels management on how to handle personnel problems and investigates and/or resolves other employee relations issues, either directly or through advice to line management.

Ensure separation notices are properly completed and consist of supporting documents.

Provide training as needed on proper documentation and preparation of company documents.

Ensure corrective actions are properly completed and consist of supporting documents.

Leads all aspects of employment process pre-hire and new hire orientation at Corporate Office

Maintains HRIS database accuracy

Performs benefits administration, change reporting and communicating benefits information to employees

Partner with Benefits Administrator for open enrollment meetings, resolution of benefits issues and questions from team members.

Prepare and submit separation paperwork for unemployment claims.

Represent company on unemployment hearings or assign company representatives.

Handle orientation and onboarding process for hourly and salaried employees and maintain salaried employee files

Responsible for I-9 compliance

Acts quickly and decisively to satisfy in-house customers.

Coordinates rewards and recognition programs to support associate engagement.

Work with field locations to maintain required state & federal posting

Serve as a backup for administrative function.

Job Requirements


•       PHR/SPHR or SHRM CP/SCP certification is preferred

•       Experience with, and knowledge of, employment law, benefit administration and laws,          Compensation, HR operations and compliance

•       Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

•       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•       Excellent conflict resolution skills

•       Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to deal comfortably with all levels of management

•       Able to handle confidential material in a reliable manner

•       Excellent organizational abilities

•       Attention to detail and accuracy

•       Creative and persistent problem solver

•       Multi-State experience a plus


•       Minimum: Associates Degree or equivalent business experience preferred: Bachelor's Degree with certification in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
